Day 10: Angels
Happy Tenth Day of Thanks Everyone!
Psalms 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psalms 34:7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
Isaiah 37:36 Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!
I am so grateful that God sends us angels and remind us that they're on their post doing exactly what they have been called to do.
All throughout the scriptures we read about angels. Some are high ranking angels like The Angel of the Lord and arc angels. Some are guardian angels; some are fire angels like seraphim's; some guard the presence of the Lord such as the cherubims. They are described as ministering spirits that have been assigned to help and protect us. Throughout my and Lilah's lives, I have seen angels in the very act of doing what they were supposed to do. When Lilah was younger and suicidal spirits would attack her mind and cause her to run into huge streets with oncoming traffic, I saw how an angel held her at bay at the corner of each street and kept her from crossing the street. I even saw one that was assigned to the outer doorpost of my home to protect it from intrusions.
Recently, I was very angry and frustrated in my prayer conversation with God. In these more recent years of Lilah having epilepsy, she has had several dangerous falls to the head and face. After one of these terrible falls, I prayed, laying out all my grievances to the Lord. I told God that I had a very serious problem with the angels assigned to Lilah. I told God to tell them I was angry at them for sleeping on the job and letting my baby fall and hurt herself. I began to quote the word and say, "didn't you say that You gave your angels charge over Lilah to keep her in all her ways? Didn't you say she was protected? Then why was she allowed to fall on the floor and hurt herself like this? I was a momma bear at that moment ready to unleash my wrath.
I'm sure many of you reading those words are thinking, "falling is something that can happen to any and everyone." Yes, that is very true. However, when I and others have seen how angels have held Lilah up on her feet, while having a seizure, my expectations of God's angels are no less now than they were then. My prayers for angels tobe released to help, protect and keep Lilah safe were going forth regularly. So, I wasn't accepting anything less than what I prayed for. The angels assigned to Lilah were supposed to protect her and keep her from falling. Period!!!!!!! Because they didn't, I was pissed.
Several weeks later, while Lilah was in the shower and I was on a virtual work meeting, Lilah had another seizure and fell. This incident should have caused serious bodily and facial harm but when I got to her, she was on the bathroom floor at the tail end of a seizure with no bumps, bruises, or injury. After giving God a huge thank you for protecting her, I realized that God was making me aware of the assigned angels who were, in fact, on their post and had just buffered the huge blow Lilah should have had to her face and body. I thanked those angels as well.
I praise God that His helpers are always available to us and with us, protecting us from dangers that are seen and unseen. Truthfully speaking, I don't know where my mind would have gone if I saw Lilah severely hurt again. I guess God saw it fit to have mercy on me and Lilah and answer our prayers.
Today as we give thanks for angels, God's helpers, please consider donating to the organization, Random Acts (https://www.randomacts.org) which sponsors surprised, generous acts of kindness.
Love ya,
Have a great day of thanks!
