Day 26: Exposure of Hidden Curses and Demonic Attachments

Proverbs 26:2Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.
Deuteronomy 28 1:14 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.5 Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.7 The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.8 The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

Happy Twenty Sixth Day of Thanks Everyone!
Today, I give thanks for the exposure of hidden curses that operate in our lives, which are responsible for keeping us stagnant or in perpetual cycles of dysfunction and unfruitful behaviors. Once these curses are exposed, it allows for repentance, deliverance, freedom, and the progression of our lives towards purpose.
In the first quarter of this year, I did several sessions with a few of my spiritual mentees/daughters on hidden curses and how to break them. I felt the need to start this series because as I was doing discipleship sessions with them, I noticed how there were several evil influences that were operating in their lives that caused obstacles in their forward progress towards their life’s’ purpose. It was awe-striking to me to know that many of them had no clue that hidden curses were operating so strongly in them. Some of these curses became prevalent in their lives because of their own active sins, because of ancestral sins in their genealogy, or because of acts of trauma that had occurred to them. The hidden curses in their lives were manifesting as poverty or insurmountable debt, failure, chronic sickness, crippled ministry or profession, spiritual hindrances, regular traumatic experiences or tragedies, suicidal tendencies, family or marital breakdown, mental torment or insanity, and cyclic depression.
First, we began to study chapter 28 of the book of Deuteronomy. The chapter outlines all of the blessings that one should have if they are children of God an obey all of the Lord’s commandments. As we were reading through the chapter, I asked my mentees to identify if they were experiencing ALL of the blessings that were outlined in that chapter. You (reader) should read that chapter and do the same assessment in your life. If the answer is yes, and you have all those blessings, you are good! Keep doing what you are doing. If the answer is no, chances are that there are some curses that operating in your life that are causing you to forfeit those blessings.
Next, we begin to explore specific sins found in the bible that brought about curses upon the lives of people. As we studied this portion of the session, I asked them to identify all of the curses to which they could relate and they noticed operating similarly in their lives. This is a great exercise for all believers to do because it will identify all of the areas of your life that need clean up. You can literally start working on your issues as soon as possible and at least one at a time. At first, some were hesitant to reveal with what they identified but after my reassuring them that they were in sacred space, they began to fill comfortable enough to share. I also told/reminded them that my teacher mode would arise in me and I would start to call them and their curses out. It always makes me laugh that my spiritual mentees usually think that their sins are hidden. I pray for them so much, God reveals almost everything about them, half of the time, even things I don’t want to know. Since my purpose is to never shame them but provide correction and help them to mature and develop spiritually, I wanted to provide them with biblical examples of their sin so that, first, the Word of God can do the exposing and correction for me. If they don’t get it the first time, then they’d receive my gentle rebuke that lets them know that they’d have to “get their lives together.”
As we went through the types of curses, they begin to identify areas in their lives of specific sins that ranged from disobedience, dishonoring of parents, lying and sexual immorality to unconscious or blatant idolatry. They were given homework to continue to identify any other sins that were operating. I told them to be cognizant of the big sin of unforgiveness toward people, dead or alive, in their spheres of influence too. Most people are not aware that unforgiveness is one of the biggest things that the enemy uses as a legal right to inflict curses and introduce demons into a person’s life. It does not matter the situation and how egregious the trauma was, one has to learn how to journey toward forgiving the person who inflicted the trauma, just like the person must forgive his/herself for harboring unforgiveness in their heart. I shared with them a book that had specific prayers that they could use to renounce their attachments to specific bondages, demons, and curses and break the chains from their lives.
Next, we began to explore the types of curses that come from ancestral bloodlines. It required each to do the work of uncovering the history of patterns of behaviors, addictions, religious belief systems and worship, and the financial literacy of their families among other things. This was the portion of the lessons that got quite interesting. We discovered that many of the generational blessings or curses that were operating in the lives of my mentees and myself came from our ancestors before us. However, due to time restraints we could not continue many of the sessions collectively but I have been working with each of mentees individually to complete the work.
As I had uncovered certain ancestral roots in this process, I begin to fast and pray specifically to renounce and break the covenants that were made between Satan and my ancestors. I also renounced and broke the curses and demonic influences that were introduced as a result of those pacts. During a twenty-eight day fast during the second quarter of this year, God began to reveal a hidden curse with demonic attachments that had been dormant in my body for over 30 years. I asked God to reveal and expose the demon to me and began to ask how and when it entered. I continued to prayer specifically for the breaking of the curse and for this demon to be dragged out of me by the Angel of the Lord. I am happy to report that on the final day of my fast, as I began to pray, complete deliverance took place. I literally felt as if something was being ripped out by its roots and dragged out of my body. When it left, I felt like a huge weight had left me and was much lighter. I rejoiced for complete victory for days.
Not only have I been set free, my mentees are experiencing a level of breakthrough in their lives as well. Things that have been held up for quite some time are being released. We are continuing to dive deeper and uncover everything that has been stopping us from destiny. We are declaring that we will not be denied and that any promises that are due us will be released to us (in Jesus name!).
